SHMD (CEO, Minyoung Lauren Song) announced on the 17th that it has recently been selected as a “2025 Promising Export Company.” The program is hosted by Chungcheong Province and operated by the Cheongju Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
SHMD is a company that has developed an AI-powered transcranial ultrasound device. With this selection, the company will receive funding to support overseas market research, marketing activities, and international certification. SHMD plans to use this opportunity to accelerate its global expansion.
SHMD CEO Song Min-young said, ‘Based on this support, we will grow into a global healthcare company that provides innovative medical technology to the world.
The AI-based transcranial ultrasound device developed by SHMD is advanced medical equipment that can diagnose and monitor cerebrovascular diseases through non-invasive methods. An SHMD official said that it has significantly improved accessibility and convenience compared to existing CT (computed tomography) or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) equipment.
CEO Song stated, “This product is particularly notable for its built-in AI algorithms,” adding, “The AI system can analyze ultrasound images in real time, enabling early diagnosis of various brain diseases, including stroke.”
SHMD has filed multiple patents related to this technology and is currently conducting clinical trials in collaboration with major university hospitals in Korea. The company expects that once the device is commercialized, it will be especially useful in emergency medical settings or regions with limited healthcare infrastructure.
