AI-Based Cerebral Blood Flow Diagnostic MedTech Company SHMD Selected for Chungbuk Intellectual Property Center’s “IP Narae Program”
SHMD Co., Ltd., led by CEO Minyoung Song and composed of top domestic and international medical professionals and healthcare experts, announced on the 12th that it has been selected for the “IP Narae Program” operated by the Chungbuk Intellectual Property Center (a branch of the Korea Invention Promotion Association in North Chungcheong Province).
SHMD is gaining attention in the medical device and digital healthcare sectors by developing early diagnosis solutions for vascular diseases using artificial intelligence (AI), including a wearable TCD (transcranial Doppler) device and an AI-powered integrated brain health monitoring app. In 2024, the company successfully secured seed investment and was selected for the government-supported tech startup program TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup Korea), achieving rapid progress.
The IP Narae Program is a national initiative aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of technology-based startups by providing IP-based technical and business consulting services. SHMD was selected for the program in recognition of its strong intellectual property management capabilities, including R&D activities led by CEO Minyoung Song—who is well-known both as a legal professional and a skilled developer—along with strategic patent and trademark applications and systematic technology protection measures.
Through the IP Narae Program, SHMD plans to discover new patents related to its core technologies and advance its IP portfolio to further strengthen the foundation for attracting both domestic and global investments and expanding internationally.
An SHMD representative stated, “For AI-based medical technology companies, intellectual property is more than just a protective measure—it is a core asset that enhances corporate value. Through the IP Narae Program, we aim to establish a more structured IP strategy and continue to protect and expand our innovative technologies moving forward.”
